REDD sounds like a great idea. You can pick an area to be protected and watch that area via a satellite in space. Maybe we need to put up a new satellite for conservation purposes. Sumatra needs this help now. We could utilize the military for forest protection. This we be needed in some hard to manage areas. Forest need to be protected from illegal activities and organized crime of any type.

I am extremely in favour of the indigenous leaders' demand of their participation and inclusion in the forum and discussion group to decide the concern on the forest and biodiversity conservation for benefit share to be accrued upon carbon trading.
Of-course they are true, why they should preserve forest and biodiversity when the entire world is rushing behind the commercialization and modernization for prosperity at the cost of destroying the nature. Expereinces and learning with indigenous peoples depicted that most of biodiversity and forest resources are conserved by primarly the indigenous people. The majority of biodiversity and forests reside in those areas where people are poor but rich in ecological knowledge, ethics and conservation of biodiversity. Hence, wisdom, and ethics of indigenous peoples in conserving biodiversity and forest must be honored with ensuring their participation at every level while making any decision on carbon trading.
Thanks
